A classic Lay’s potato chip is a near-perfect food. Light, crispy, and salty, chips are the ultimate snack. But what if I told you Lay’s found a way to improve its signature Wavy chips? And that these limited-edition chips are so delicious I’m sticking a bag in each of my family members’ stockings this Christmas?
Meet my new obsession: Lay’s Wavy Milk Chocolate and Lay’s Wavy Dubai-Style Dark Chocolate. Yes, you read that right. Chocolate!

Why I Love Lay’s New Chocolate-Covered Chips
When I heard Lay’s was coating its Wavy chips in chocolate, I shouted, “Heck yes!” I am a big fan of sweet and salty snacks, and the crunch makes them even more irresistible. I love chocolate-covered pretzels, and I like potato chips more than I like pretzels, so it sounded great to me. Plus, potato chips show up in one of my favorite desserts, kitchen sink cookies, so how bad could it be?
If you’re not sure about this combo, I’m here to tell you that I was lucky enough to try the chocolate-covered potato chips, and they are delicious. They stay perfectly crunchy beneath the chocolate coating, and the sweet creaminess pairs so well with the chips’ salty crunch. All in all, it’s a real treat.
I’m also excited that Lay’s is releasing milk and dark chocolate options. I enjoyed the milk chocolate more than I expected, but I’m typically a dark chocolate fan, and this is no exception. If you’re a milk chocolate lover, go for the crowd-pleasing option. But if you prefer dark chocolate, especially with nuts, go with the Dubai-Style Dark Chocolate. The coating includes crushed pistachios for a little extra nutty crunch.
Over the last few years, I’ve added more fun edible treats to my family’s stockings, and no one complains. I like to mix treats I know they love with new items I think they’ll fall head over heels for, saving those for special occasions. Chocolate-covered Lay’s falls into the latter category, but it’ll move into the former if Lay’s keeps bringing these chips back.
Look for Lay’s Wavy chocolate-covered chips at your local supermarket starting in late November, just in time for the holidays.
